Job Description

Our client, in the Consumer Research industry, has a wonderful opportunity for a 
part-time Kitchen Assistant to assist their Product Development team. 

Tue - Thu.
10 am - 3 pm   
18 - 20 hrs/week

PT hours/ days can be broken down as 6 hrs/day x 3 days or 5 hrs/day x 4 days

Pay rate:     
$ 15.00/ hr

Job Summary:
The Kitchen Technician is responsible for assisting the Sensory Panel Assistant in all aspects of running the panel. The consensus panels train and test on food, beverage, and household products.

Primary Responsibility
Supports sensory projects, preparation, execution and cleanup of kitchen and back of house needs.

Responsible test/training samples:

  • Storage and serving (temperature, labeling, logging)
  • Responsible for consistency within and between relevant studies (product preparation, container types)
  • Sourcing products from local shops when required

Daily Panel Maintenance ensuring compliance with basic food hygiene standards

  • Pre-panel session (set up panel working area)
  • Post-panel session (proper product and container disposal and recycling, cleaning and clearing all working areas)
  • General knowledge of basic food safety and kitchen practices
  • Basic cooking and food preparation skills preferred
  • Assist with inventory
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs and stand for extended periods of time
  • Communication - communicate clearly and professionally
  • Cooperation – demonstrate team approach and willingness to work with others in fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate Self-management and Flexibility - ability to cope with changing priorities
  • Planning and Organizing
  • Attention to Detail - Critical for sample procurement, preparation, and storage
