Volt is seeking a Simulation Engineer to join our client’s Virtual Product Development (VPD) team at their Industrial Power Systems Division, located in Mossville, IL.  This is a contingent position expected to last 2 years. 

In addition, you will:

  • Support the design, performance, emissions and mechanical development of diesel engines
  • Apply your knowledge of materials, fatigue analysis, and failure analysis to assignments that are complex in nature and that support and enhance product performance, durability, reliability, quality, and serviceability
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve engineering problems using failure analysis principles of materials and perform fatigue analysis
  • Perform FEA in a certain portion of their time
  • Participate in the FMEA development and work closely with test engineers to analyze the failures from the field

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Master’s degree with 2-3 years of experience performing fatigue and failure analysis or a PhD degree in a Materials or Mechanical Engineering program with an emphasis on fatigue, fracture and materials behavior
  • Experience with fatigue tools such as COBRA, n-Code or FE-SAFE
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members, internal customers, business leaders and process partners

A strong candidate will also have:

  • Experience with internal combustion engines or other rotating machinery
  • Experience with Abaqus and ANSYS
  • Experience with HyperMesh, NX or similar pre-processors
  • Experience with CREO or other CAD tools
