Job Description

SUMMARY: The position in Pearland, TX of SMT Machine Operator will be required to understand and perform the following: be familiar SMT paperwork, work orders and drawings, capable of loading feeders, setting-up / tear-down of the machines, ability to run the machine and know the steps to take when the machine malfunctions, and be responsible for the quality of the product being produced by their machines.


  • Responsible for safe and efficient operation of the electronic component surface mount pick-n-place robots.


  • Must be able to read, write, communicate, and comprehend the English language.
  • Bill of material and print reading.
  • Component identification.
  • Reading and comprehension of component part markings and polarity.
  • Proper completion of all necessary paperwork. This includes maintaining accurate records of the machine on the machine log sheet, using the correct operation numbers, and making sure that the paperwork is scanned.
  • Timing runs in-order to have actual run time to input into the computer Shop Floor Control software.
  • Responsible for boards they are inspecting.
  • Responsible for boards being produced off their line. Boards must: have as good of placement as possible, not be short parts, must have correct part polarity and correct parts.
  • Use corrective action immediately after machine malfunctions. This maybe fixing the problem if able or getting a lead person or maintenance technician to fix the problem.
  • Communicate with lead person and stencil of when additional racks will be needed. Also must notify stencil within an hour of being setup for the next job.
  • Ensure that safety is being maintained
  • Assist the lead with training of new employees if necessary.

Practice good housekeeping. Cleaning dropped parts off of the machine between every job. Cleanliness is important for ensuring a productive and safe workplace.
