Volt is Seeking a Senior Software Developer  (AOS)

Location:  Hampton VA (Langley AFB)

Position Description

This is an immediate job opening for Sr. Software Application Engineer at Langley AFB, Hampton Virginia.  This position is to construct and incrementally develop, modify, upgrade, deliver, and field Command and Control (C2) software applications in support of Air Combat Command (ACC) Air Operations Squadron (AOS), Langley AFB VA, using development best practices. The position performs duties on-site at Langley AFB, VA, and is immediately available.  

Must have, or be able to obtain SECRET clearance and a Security+ certification.

  • Support the design, implementation, and documentation of architectures, including the software, hardware, and communications to support the total customer requirements.
  • Ensure these C2 applications are compatible and in compliance with the standards for open systems and DOD architectures and security standards.
  • Identify, assess, and present options for meeting the functional and technical requirements, including hardware and software updates or upgrades.
  • Perform Customer Support Administrator (CSA) duties to support operational DoD customers in a military environment.  This involves both functional user support and training, and also analysis, troubleshooting, and support for military computer system and network issues.  A Security+ certification is required to perform these duties.
    • Interact with functional users to determine system requirements, plan project schedules and implement technical direction.
  • Develop software design documents and technology white papers responsible for developing high-level system design diagrams and for program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Be responsible for quality assurance review and the evaluation of existing and new software.

Qualifications:

Education: BS degree in Computer Science or Information Systems (MS desired); other technical degrees and total experience will be considered in lieu of degree requirements.  The candidate must have (or be able to rapidly obtain) a Security+ certification.

Required Experience

  • Must have, or be able to obtain SECRET clearance.
  • Six (6) years software engineering experience, to include: Design, Development, and Test and Evaluation.
  • Six (6) years programming experience with advanced C4ISR Project programming languages (C#, C++, Java, ASP.net, Visual Basic).  Specific languages/tools are listed below.
  • Four (4) years’ experience to include: Database development (i.e. SQL Server), Web page design, Computer Based Training, and using .NET tools and Integrated Development Environments (i.e. Visual Studio) in software development.
  • Must have experience supporting the development of web-based and client/server applications with secure software design and development, and multiple language development processes and tools/utilities.

Desired Skills/Tools/Languages:

  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks and development to support rapid prototyping and development is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Java is highly desirable.
  • Experience with modern MVC, REST, and Web API standards using Microsoft technologies is desirable.
  • Experience performing Customer Support Administrator (CSA) duties to support operational DoD customers in a military environment is highly desirable.  A Security+ certification is required to perform these duties.
  • Experience in Microsoft Windows System Administration is highly desirable.
  • Other desirable experience includes work with:  configuration management processes, web services development and SOA design, graphical user interface design and construction, and object-oriented development concepts and design patterns.

Desired Experience:

  • Knowledge of military air mission planning, scheduling, and execution, and operations is desirable.
  • Experience working with scheduling, performance, fielding, compliance with DoD and Air Force IT standards, and security and accreditation.
  • Experience with development, testing, configuration management, and fielding support; managing and analyzing C2 systems design and development; and recommending allocation of resources to meet changing priorities and requirements.
  • Experience reporting on program status, including schedule, security, and compliance with directives to government managers, working groups, and specialized reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with client-server architectures hosting planning capabilities and web-based architecture.

Security Clearance:
Applicants selected must have ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
