If you have 3 or more years of experience writing and modifying code in C++, are proficient with IBM Rational Rhapsody, have experience with real-time software development and developing on Linux and/or Windows platforms, then you may be the candidate we are looking for!

We are seeking two (2) seasoned Software Engineers to work with our client, a global leader in the defense and cyber markets, for 6 months in St. Petersburg, FL from 8am to 5pm.  The successful candidates will support the real-time sensor netting system that enables high quality situational awareness and integrated fire control capability.  The software teams employ an Agile Scrum process to rapidly design, code, and integrate capabilities on a continuous basis into a mature solution for customers.  The software applications are developed using real-time embedded C++ running on a variety of computing platforms running Linux/Unix operating systems.  The software is developed and delivered incrementally using Agile development methods including Scrum, automated testing, and continuous integration.  The successful candidate will:

  • Have current C++ experience and can write and modify code
  • Possess strong in skills in Rhapsody. 
  • Be integrated into a small to medium sized software team involved in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle including developing new capabilities and features, as well as maintaining the existing product line
  • Be an active participant on the Scrum Team performing development tasks independently  
  • Employ their understanding of real-time software design to recognize the performance implications associated with specific detail implementations

**Applicants must meet the requirements for C++ and Rhapsody to be considered for this role.

Required Skills

  • Applicants selected must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • 2 or more years of Linux or Unix experience
  • 3 or more years of experience in all phases of Software Engineering including requirements, design, coding, testing, and integration
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Software Engineering
  • Must have 3 or more years of experience with C++
  • Must have 3 or more years of experience with Rhapsody
  • Experience developing software in a team based development environment, preferably Agile/Scrum
  • Real-time software development experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Skills

  • 3 or more years of experience with Java
  • A Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Software Engineering
  • Experience with Agile development methods including Scrum, automated testing, static code analysis and continuous integration
  • Familiarity with the following Software Tools: ClearCase, ClearQuest, Team Concert, Jenkins, Coverity, Eclipse, DOORS
  • Knowledge of or experience with UML, service oriented architectures, database design/implementation, model driven development, real time and/or embedded software, communications methods and protocols, and system security-hardening
  • Radar domain knowledge

These are estimated six (6) month temporary positions in St. Petersburg, FL that are offered through Volt Workforce Solutions.  Relocation assistance is NOT available for these positions.  These positions are subject to U.S. Government Contractor hiring eligibility requirements.  No third-party vendors.  Pay is commensurate with experience.
