JR. SOFTWARE ENGINEER| PROGRAMMER ANALYST | DIRECT HIRE

SPOKANE, WA

SUMMARY

Volt’s Client is looking for a Jr. Software Engineer/Programmer Analyst. This is a direct hire, permanent position in Spokane, WA.

In the Programmer Analyst position you will confer with users and system analysts to devise solutions to business problems. Design and develop computer programs and/or systems with the aid of the senior staff members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops efficient and cost-effective programs or modifies existing programs for corporate computers.
  • Works with senior staff and/or independently to increase data processing skills.
  • Assists in the design and development of new information systems as they apply to corporate requirements.
  • Works with department personnel and application users to ensure that programming will meet predefined specifications.
  • Supports the installation of package programs to include data conversion, integration, and maintenance to achieve MIS goals.
  • Assists in trouble shooting user programs as need
  • Keeps abreast of current programming innovations available in the market place and makes recommendations to apply them when and/or where they would improve productivity or accuracy.
  • Works with systems analysts to improve system design and learn design techniques.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in math or computer science, and one year experience with a business language, database handling, and on-line applications.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience maybe considered.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, software documentation, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to operate a PC.
  • Knowledge of PROGRESS or similar 4GL language, UNIX or LINUX operating system, Microsoft Windows and its applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
