Job Description

VOLT is currently recruiting for a Software Engineer to work with a leading company in digital security.

As a Software Engineer for this team located in Latham, you will provide front and back end development support using JavaScript (JS), HTML, C#, .NET and SQL technologies for various web and back end systems for the biometrics program. You will participate and at times lead development activities of customized interfaces and O&M activities. You will also assist with other Federal Programs as time and need permit.

A week in the life of a Software Engineer:

  • You will provide software revisions as you troubleshoot or resolve software issues with Federal installed systems.
  • You will develop software components for new projects or enhance existing projects related to biometric systems.
  • You will participate in technical meetings to communicate project status and issue.
  • You will analyze and map requirements to existing and new software system solutions.
  • You will help improve, implement and follow best practices in systems engineering and software engineering.
  • You will create and maintain software deliverables, technical documentations and specifications in the knowledge base.
  • You will troubleshoot, isolate, and fix production problems.
  • You will work directly with customers and provide technical assistance and support for any software related issues.
  • You will perform and support system tests, which includes creating test tools and test plans
  • To succeed at this job, you must have: development experience with JavaScript (JS), HTML, C#, and ASP.NET or Java on production based systems, scripting (Bash or Perl) and experience with relational databases (MySQL/SQL Server).
  • It would be preferred if you have experience in biometrics software development, experience with Oracle, experience with developing database triggers, stored-procedures, and stored-functions, experience with various OS or Webservers (Windows Server 2008/IIS, Linus/Apache, Tomcat), experience in building/deploying networked software systems, and knowledge of systems engineering processes and standards.
  • You must be fluent in English.

  • You must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • We are looking for someone with 5+ years experience in a software engineer, software developer or systems engineering role with focus in JavaScript, HTML and C#.
  • Travel of up to 15% of the time.
