Job Description
The SQA Engineer is responsible for delivering quality software from the client’s suite of software and integrated U-SCAN hardware platforms for the specialty and grocery retail industry. The SQA Engineer is responsible for managing all QA related activities leading a small team of QA Analysts developing and executing test plans, test cases, test reports and report defects while ensuring thorough documentation and delivering software and hardware projects within project time frames.

Duties and Responsibilities 
• Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases
• Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities (First Pass, Rework, Regression etc.)
• Identify, record, document thoroughly and track bugs
• Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved
• Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products
• Organizes and maintains a library of test plans/scripts
• Develop and maintain automation test scripts for regression testing
• Fully involved with the DevOps and Agile project environments
• Facilitate test plan review meetings with SW Developers when required
• Identify program variances from standards and suggest modifications. 
• Prepare test environments
• Research complex and complex SW issues problems related to quality
• Communicate project status to project team and management
• Represents SW Quality Assurance in project team meetings and communicates results to SW Quality Assurance team members.
• Adhere & comply to Company/ISO procedures & policies
• Support continual improvement efforts
• Act as an SME for U-Scan software architecture and design from SQA perspective

Required Skills:
• Strong knowledge of a SDLC and SQA testing methodologies as well as experience in a DevOps/Agile team environment.
• ISTQB certification is a definite plus.
• Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities (First Pass, Rework, Regression etc.) as test prime for projects. 
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem solving skills.
• Strong communication skills with ability to communicate with all levels of the project team from SQA Tech Lead to Project Manager
• Organizes and maintains a library of test plans/scripts. 
• Knowledge of functionality, compatibility, usability, reliability, exploratory, load/stress testing practices
• Executes test cases according to test plan and schedules.
• Participates in requirements & use case reviews.
• Experience with multiple SQL versions and SQL scripting
• Experience with manual and automated testing (an asset) on Retail (Self Checkout, POS) systems, Mobile, Desktop and Web based environments. 
• Experience with automated test tools Selenium, Jmeter and Appium a plus.
• Experience with Java, .NET, HTML5, Visual Basic, Visual Studio environments
• Knowledge of Windows Platform, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project). 

Education and/or Experience 
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Comp. Science, Engineering or other related technical field. Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered
• 4-6 years of experience in a software quality assurance (verification and validation) role.
