Volt is seeking a Sr Electrical Engineer for Phoenix, Arizona

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Senior designer of electrical/electronic products from conceptual design through system fabrication, testing and the transition to production.

Expected to propose solutions, prove concepts, evaluate new technologies and design trade-offs. Create, and develop analog and digital systems with an emphasis on microprocessor designs. Execute design analysis, including worst-case analysis, reliability analysis, and circuit simulations. Coordinate EMI/RFI testing, environmental testing and validation testing.

Demonstrated proficiency in electronics; microprocessor based digital and analog designs, Printed Circuit Board layout and construction and C programming is essential.

Experience with various RF antenna designs and communication protocols plus an emphasis on different RADAR configurations and designs would be considered beneficial and desired.

Experience with Android and Apple app development preferred.   

Provide design solutions that address expressed and implied (through industry knowledge) product requirements.  Work closely with other disciplines and share innovative ideas with engineering design team.

Formally report product status and testing results in a timely fashion.

Apply fundamental engineering principles to design challenges while being aware of the implications of cost, schedule and manufacturability of the product.

 Requirements:

  • Experience with designing embedded systems is required. Specific experience with STM, Microchip or similar processors is necessary.
  • Experience with RF design of systems/circuitry around NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Cellular communications.
  • Experience working with RADAR for mapping positions along with antenna designs will be beneficial.
  • Strong electronic problem solving skills, experience in electronic packaging and PCB design.
  • Hands-on experience with circuit simulation and modeling software (PSpice & Mathcad).
  • Experience with Altium (preferred) or Orcad is required.
  • Strong capabilities and experience in firmware design and C-programming. Understanding of MISRA-C rules and coding principles a plus.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering degree is required. A Master’s of Science in Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
