Position:  Senior FPGA Design Engineer

Location: Chelmsford, MA

Status:     Direct Hire

A client of ours in the RF/telecommunications industry is currently seeking an experienced Sr. FPGA Design Engineer in Chelmsford, MA.

The FPGA Engineer is responsible for design, implementation, and integration of RTL for radio products.  The programmable logic functions will include Gigabit Ethernet MAC, Physical Layer 1, and baseband quadrature signal processing. The engineer will participate with Hardware and Software engineers in bring up, design verification testing (DVT) and end to end integration of an SoC platform.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs and Implements with LTE Layer 1 IP and brings it through system integration
  • Designs and Implements with Multi-gigabit Ethernet IP and brings through system integration
  • Designs and implements ARM AXI switches and DMAs between processor and FPGA subsystems
  • Works closely with Software team to integrate data moves to FPGA IP and memories
  • Works closely with RF team to provide LTE test waveforms to RFIC, PAs, and receivers 
  • Provides FPGA debug capabilities for Hardware / Software root cause investigation
  • Maintains revision control of FPGA release code base to Software
  • Designs FPGA patch releases and qualifies them for field release once the product is in the commercial field

Related Education and Experience:

  • BSEE with 10 years or related experience or MSEE with 7 years of related experience
  • Xilinx Vivado synthesizer
  • Matlab and Simulink
  • Model based design tools such as Xilinx System Generator
  • Digital Signal Processing for RF such as Digital NCO, Quadrature modulator and demodulator, Channel filtering, AGC and PLL loop filters 
  • Clock domain partitioning, timing constraints rules, static timing closure
  • Hierarchical test bench design
  • Automated vector stimulus input and output pass/fail checking
  • ChipScope (ILA) debugger or equivalent methods
