Job Description

Right now, we are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will develop innovative ROV (remotely operated vehicles) products and tool designs within marine engineering standards.  You will be part of a cross-functional team of Engineers engaged in complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.  Having wide ranging experience to resolve complex issues in creative, imaginative, and effective ways.

  • Preliminary design, including scope estimation to completion/interface with program managers
  • Design analysis and development of parts, products, equipment, and or material specifications
  • Design components and integrated assemblies of deep submergence vehicles and accessories, considering performance, safety, patents, goals, and regulatory requirements throughout the process
  • Create drawing models, assemblies and dimensioned fabrication drawings using SolidWorks and 3-D CAD tools
  • Generate Engineering release packages and ECO documentation
  • Develop electro-mechanical drawing assemblies and instructions
  • Produce design concepts to support sales and marketing
  • Evaluate concepts for engineering validity and complexity
  • Design review preparation, execution, action item tracking and closure
  • Interface with customers to obtain job-specific knowledge; implement this knowledge into the design
  • Take overall ownership of multiple, concurrent projects
  • Ensure complex mechanical designs on projects are completed on time and on budget
  • Utilize manufacturing knowledge to seek various processes and designs that increase performance, increase manufacturability, and reduce costs
  • Actively manage project activities and set the direction of designers and other technical support personnel to create prototypes or drawings of the design effort
  • Identify and implement design improvements for cost reduction throughout the life of the product
  • Perform root cause failure analysis and corrective action studies
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities but may mentor temporary Engineering interns.

What you need to succeed (Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements):

  • Requires a BSME or related engineering discipline
  • Must be fluent with SolidWorks and FEA analysis
  • Minimum of 8 years directly related experience
  • Proficient in SolidWorks design software
  • ANSI/ASME Y14.5M Tolerance and Dimensioning
  • Knowledge of electromechanical assemblies
  • Experience using standard measurement tools for mechanical and electrical parameters, such as calipers, micrometers, multi-meters and hand tools
  • Experience with root cause analysis and failure analysis is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills

What will make you stand out (Preferred Qualifications/ Requirements):

  • ROV and or submersible vehicle or diving system design experience
  • Project management skills; experience using MS-Project
  • Product development in an ISO 9001-2008 environment
  • Manufacturing experience including various molding/casting and encapsulation processes; CNC/manual machining operations; assembly sequencing, corrosion resistance coating and hand finishing
  • Design experience using DC motors and gear trains
  • Strong background and understanding of materials used in subsea applications
  • Must possess U.S. citizenship or be a "U.S. Person”/Green Card holder.
