Job Description

Sr. Network Engineer - Direct Hire - Foothill Ranch, CA

This position requires senior skills in IP networking with extensive practical experience planning, implementing, verifying and troubleshooting local and wide-area enterprise networks including networks that support advanced security, voice, wireless and video solutions. The candidate for this role should have at a minimum the following qualifications:

  • Minimum current Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing and Switching certification, current CCIE certification preferred
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience managing and implementing large enterprise IP networks composed of Cisco and other vendor’s IP routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Practical hands-on experience configuring Cisco ASA Firewalls, ISR routers, and Cisco 2900 series Catalyst switches required
  • Extensive practical experience designing and implementing low latency IP networks supporting differentiated services including Voice, Video, and Data
  • Strong working knowledge of IP Routing protocols including Interior Gateway Protocols such as BGP; Transport Layer Protocols such as TCP and UDP; Internet Layer Protocols such as IPv6, ICMP, and EIGRP; and Link Layer Protocols such as PPP and ARP
  • Proficiency working with access control list (ACLs), TCP/IP. VLAN, Traffic Shaping, priority queuing, class of service (QoS) and IP routing
  • Strong understanding and practical experience designing and implementing carrier transport WAN services including MPLS; Metro Ethernet; and Internet Broadband circuit connections
  • Experience configuring and managing policy based routing systems
  • Experience configuring and managing IP network security systems including firewalls, Session Boarder Controllers (SBCs), and secured gateways
  • Experience implementing and managing network monitoring systems that utilize SNMP or XML- RPC for data capture of network devices
  • Experience implementing platforms and carrier services (trunks) that utilize Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) as well as strong understanding of H.323 / MGCP Protocols
  • Strong knowledge in wireless implementation and security: WPA/WPA2, PEAP, EAP-TLS, 802.1X, Radius and Meraki
  • Well versed in High Availability/Site Recovery design principles
  • Strong working knowledge with hybrid networking between physical datacenters and cloud services like Azure
  • Experienced in server technologies such as VMWare, Active Directory, Windows/Linux, Radius
  • Experience in designing Storage Area Networks using ISCSI and Fiber-Channel
  • Well versed in IT Security protocols and best practices
  • Experience with cloud peering solutions with connection to Azure and SAP HEC a plus
  • Available for afterhours support and on-call rotation as needed
  • Must have good documentation skills
  • Scoping, architecting and implementing new LAN/WAN and Cloud (MS/Azure) environments
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting and correcting issues with Cisco, LAN/Wireless hardware (Meraki), and Azure PaaS/IaaS workloads
  • Capturing and analyzing packet traces; assessing OS issues; implements Azure service changes
  • Leads the developing and generating conceptual, logical and physical network architecture/designs including drawings and device configurations
  • Leads implementing enterprise and Cloud based security mechanisms and policies
  • Scripting and automation (Python, bash, Linux, open source tools)
  • Serves as a tier 3 escalation resource for resolution of complex enterprise network issues
  • Leads installation and configuration of Cisco switching: Workgroup, Campus and Data Center products
  • Leads Installation and configuration of Wi-Fi and working with vendors on Wi-Fi related issues
  • Leads Installation, configuration of Cisco switches/Routers (VSS, OSPF, BGP)
  • Leads design and implementation of Telco providers and Clients on WAN upgrades/implementations
  • Servers as the senior network SME and works with DevOPs an DBA on architectural changes to cloud PaaS/IaaS environments
  • Works closely with senior IT leaders and teams to meet company IT goals and improve process and practices
