As a Senior Product Owner in the Product Management organization of our client’s Vehicle Information Technology division, you will be responsible for working directly with the customer to build next generation navigation systems and telematics services for connected vehicles. These services enable communication between the connected vehicle and the cloud.

The Senior Product Owner works with the customer to complete product planning activities, identify technical requirements, scheduling, and serves as an interface to the local development team. This position will oversee Dynamic Content as part of their Cloud Services Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead all project management activities surrounding the development and delivery of Dynamic Content including scheduling, requirements gathering, development, integration management, and conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate with local customer to define business and technical requirements and work with software development team to translate into clear and concise user stories.
  • Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and prioritization of customer requirements.
  • Set, prioritize, and evaluate the work generated by the software development teams.
  • Work with other internal feature teams to ensure that Dynamic Content is effectively integrated into the final product. Align the development schedule for Dynamic content with all other development schedules.
  • Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of sprint/release goals.
  • Manage and communicate project statuses to key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform risk management by effectively identifying and managing all risks to ensure the risk does not impact development.
  • Effectively balance customer expectations with internal capabilities & constraints.
  • Balance the needs and requirements of the client and their customer while always prioritizing the end user experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 5-7 years of experience as a Project Manager in software development with a cloud-based product or service.
  • Strong project management skills and process expert with familiarity of Agile/Scrum processes. Must be highly organized.
  • Technical aptitude with ability to understand complex technical subjects and effectively translate into user requirements.
  • Proven experience managing client/partner relations in a software development setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with emphasis on ability to lead without authority.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently lead meetings with internal and external teams, both face-to-face and remotely.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Genuine interest in next-gen vehicle technologies such as ADAS and MaaS with a desire, ability, and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Self-starter who works proactively and requires little guidance.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Familiarity with car navigation, ADAS and MaaS technologies
  • Fluency with Japanese language
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment, including working with overseas teams.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
