Senior Purchasing Agent

General Position Summary:

Performs buying duties of products and supplies at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, delivery and other factors per specifications for the manufacturing of aerospace products.  Manages suppliers to ensure on time delivery of product that meets quality requirements.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

  • Purchase assigned parts and materials (raw & manufactured), using analysis tools provided, including an MRP system.
  • Monitor inventory levels and plan purchases to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Perform analysis of supply and demand, lead time, price, supplier performance and sales forecast to determine appropriate source, placing purchase orders to ensure product flow.
  • Resolve issues with suppliers, including recovery from late orders and rejected product.
  • Support client's customer quoting process for new business by issuing Requests for Quote to suppliers for materials and parts required. Assist Manager in negotiating Long Term Agreements.
  • Contribute to management reports as required, including status of open purchase orders, backorder list, and supplier measurements.
  • Manage projects as assigned by the manager, working with peers in other departments.

Specific Job Skills:

  • Excellent PC Skills. Experience in Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate.
  • Strong analytical / mathematical skills required.
  • Skilled in written and verbal communication.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with a wide range of people in a diverse community. Skilled in written and verbal communication.
  • Self-starter with ability to work in a fast paced deadline driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage multiple priorities efficiently to meet changing deadlines

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; and 3 to 5 years buying experience, aerospace composites industry experience (highly desired)
