Job Description

Our client in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Sr. R&D Sustaining Engineer.  This is an exciting opportunity to work with an industry leader within the medical device industry.

Title: Sr R&D Sustaining Engineer (not looking for a manufacturing engineer)


• Staff-level R&D Sustaining Engineer to perform sustaining engineering activities for existing medical products.
• Document and implement design and manufacturing change activities per Design Control process
• Outlines and performs design verification and validation activities working closely with cross-functional team members
• Evaluate changes requested by supplier related to component improvement and obsolescence
• Performs and documnet troubleshooting and evaluation activities on manufacturing process capabilities
• Conducts measurements specified in design verification and validation plans, documents and tabulates results, and provides engineering test reports.
• Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
• Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.

Experience (s), education and knowledge:
• Bachelor/MS/Ph.D of Science in mechanical, electrical, chemical, biomedical or related engineering field.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in R&D, manufacturing, or quality engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in Medical device engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to generate and maintain quality documentations
• Demonstrated ability to understand and comply with applicable FDA regulations and Company operating procedures, processes, policies and tasks.
• Training and experience in Design Control processes is highly preferred.
• Advanced personal computer skills, including spreadsheet, word processing, database management, and specialized applications.
• Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
• Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
• Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
• Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
• Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally.
• Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
