TITLE:                                 Hearing Health Staff Test Engineer

LOCATION:                        Itasca, Illinois  

STATUS:                             Direct Hire


The successful, experienced candidate will lead a team of engineers to architect digital and mixed signal circuits, firmware and software for the test systems. The Candidate will take ownership of defining system requirements, designing the test electronics solution, verifying the first article, and working with the manufacturing teams to deploy the processes and equipment to the client’s international manufacturing facilities. The candidate will also work with other key Test Group members to define next generation architectures which will provide flexible capabilities to test complicated, high performance products.


  • Lead a small team of engineers to design, implement and deploy complex test solutions.
  • Lead technical projects from start to finish.
  • Design test circuits (Low-noise analog, medium speed digital – discrete, FPGA and microcontroller based) to departmental standards, including schematic, BOM, purchasing information and mechanical PCB requirements
  • Design and document wiring/cabling for test systems
  • Develop complete implementation packages, including detailed test procedures for all designs to enable replication of production designs by other teams/groups
  • Generate product requirements specifications and develop system architecture documentation for all new designs
  • Work with the Mechanical Engineering group in the development of new test tooling
  • Troubleshoot test system hardware and integrate designs with application software (LabVIEW/Python).
  • Perform statistical analysis to characterize and validate test systems
  • Build and maintain cross-functional working relationships with other groups both locally and abroad


  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (MSEE preferred) plus a minimum of 7 years of experience designing low noise mixed signal, analog and digital electronic circuits.
  • Team leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with designing mixed signal electronics including low noise amplifiers, grounding methodologies, noise isolation and abatement techniques, proper grounding methods, etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of digital design techniques (complex state machines, proper clocking methodologies, including distribution techniques and multi-domain systems, grounding for noise isolation, timing analysis, etc.)
  • Experience leading technical projects with formal project management training a plus.
  • Schematic capture and PC board layout experience.
  • Knowledge of structured hardware and software programming principles and methods.
  • Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW (or Python) and TestStand development tools.
  • Knowledge of transducers and acoustics is desirable.
  • Demonstration of proven test system development is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are essential.
