Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions is recruiting for a Sr Systems Engineer role for a client located in Redmond, WA. This is a 6-month contingent to hire role.   • Responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation of the network, allowing all components to work properly together;
  •  monitoring networks to ensure security and availability to specific users; and maintaining integrity of the network, server deployment and security.
  • Recommends the redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications. Investigates and analyzes feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications. Identifies methods, solutions and provides a high level of service to staff.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations, monitoring of system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair. Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained.
  • Develop new system, network, and application implementation plans and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.
  • Guide and/or provide work direction to technical staff. Train technical staff in how to use new software and hardware developed and/or acquired.
  • Perform troubleshooting as required and leads problem-solving efforts.
  • Install, modify and maintain systems and utility software on server computer systems.
  • Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.
  • Develops procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse.
  • Develop procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications.
  • Develop and coordinate project directions and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on the customer organizations. Provides leadership in planning and implementation of projects for computer operations and enterprise systems administration.


  • Advanced knowledge of programming languages
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in Linux operating systems system and network administration
  • Advanced knowledge of current equipment and technologies in use; enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring tools
  • Ability to plan, organize and document complex system design activities and to configure systems to be consistent with company policies/procedures
  • Ability to communicate technical and/or complex information both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively
  • Ability to work with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science or information systems degree or a related field and 5 years of experience in a systems administration or related role (or a combination of education, training, or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).
