Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions is seeking a Sr Systems Engineer for a client located in Seattle, WA. This is a 6-month contingent role (potential to conversion after 6 months). We are among the largest IT recruitment firms in the US for contingent/temporary and direct hire placements and support most of the top-rated IT companies in the Pacific Northwest.


  • Design, develop, and support tools that meets the needs of the OCI Security team.
  • Code, debug, compile, test, version, distribute, and support internal applications.
  • Work with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand use cases, and clearly communicate technical information.
  • Participate in secure software development life cycle development using agile methods.
  • Provide visibility into task estimates, progress, quality, and completeness.
  • Work with others to create consensus on design direction.
  • Work with developers in other time zones and other countries.
  • Clear technical writing and verbal skills.
  • Specific knowledge of Oracle Linux, Redhat, or CentOS platforms.
  • The engineer must be able to combine multiple open source technologies into a package that can be delivered through a CI/CD pipeline to multiple data centers.

Skill set:

Git source code control.

Oracle Linux 7 system administration

Docker - Developing, maintain, and improve containerized applications.

Teamcity - Create CI/CD builds of the application stack, troubleshoot build system issues.

Apache - web server configuration and troubleshooting

MySQL - database administration, SQL query authoring and troubleshooting

Chef - configuration automation


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience (6+ years in application development)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, working closely with business stakeholders to design, develop, test, and support implemented solutions
  • Detailed knowledge with development practices in support of agile and waterfall project methodologies
