Job Description

This position requires senior skills in server technologies with extensive practical experience planning, implementing, verifying and troubleshooting local on-prem and cloud platform including Azure, VMware, Cisco and more. The candidate for this role should have at a minimum the following qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience managing Azure cloud technologies and current Microsoft certification
  • 7-10 years of experience as a Microsoft Systems Engineer preferably with an MCSE certification
  • Experience with VMWare
  • Experience with the implementation and/or operations of medium to large-scale enterprise cloud infrastructure supporting a software development team
  • Knowledge of cloud networking architecture, cloud operations, security, automation and orchestration
  • Experience with High Availability/Site Recovery design principles
  • Advanced Knowledge of MS Server, Active Directory, Exchange, Microsoft SQL, Office 365 support and migration
  • Well-rounded knowledge of storage solutions such as Dell Equallogic, Nimble, Compellent, ISCSI, Fiber-Channel, etc…
  • Supporting servers such as Dell PowerEdge or HP ProLiant
  • Well versed in Data Backup and Recovery tools
  • Comfortable managing Antivirus or similar Enterprise Software tools
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP networks and related technologies
  • Experience implementing and managing network/system monitoring tools
  • Experience supporting and managing Cisco (WiFi) networks
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot Cisco routers, Cisco switches, ASA Firewalls, Cisco Wireless equipment at a CCNA level
  • Available for afterhours support and on-call rotation as needed

Scoping, architecting and implementing new LAN/WAN and Cloud (MS/Azure) environments

  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting and correcting issues with Cisco, LAN/Wireless hardware (Meraki), and Azure PaaS/IaaS workloads
  • Capturing and analyzing packet traces; assessing OS issues; implements Azure service changes
  • Participates in developing and generating conceptual, logical and physical network architecture/designs including drawings and device configurations
  • Participates in implementing enterprise and Cloud based security mechanisms and policies
  • Some scripting and automation (Python, bash, Linux, open source tools).
  • Serves as a tier 2 escalation resource for resolution of enterprise issues
  • Installing and configuring Cisco switching: Workgroup, Campus and Data Center products
  • Installing and configuring Wi-Fi and working with vendors on Wi-Fi related issues
  • Installing, configuring Cisco switches/Routers (VSS, OSPF, BGP)
  • Working closely with Telco providers and Clients on WAN upgrades/implementations
  • Working closely with DevOPs an DBA on architectural changes to cloud PaaS/IaaS environments
  • Working closely with colleagues to meet team goals and improve process and practices
  • Serves as a tier 3 escalation resource for resolution of complex enterprise issues
