Job Description

Are you a highly accomplished IC Design Engineer with Biomedical experience?

This Engineer’s primary responsibility will be to utilize various levels of mixed signal design for ultra-low power implantable medical devices including neuromodulation, pacemaker and biomonitor products.

  • Design and develop high performance mixed signal integrated circuits on senior level projects for extremely ultra-low power implantable medical products
  • Engage with other designers (system level, mixed signal and digital) and participate in various levels of IC design including developing new product specifications, circuit concepts and architecture partitioning of transistor level analog sections and digital blocks
  • Perform circuit design, test bench setup/simulations for various types of circuits including voltage/current references, comparators, ADCs/DACs and other switch-capacitor/continuous time amplifiers and filters
  • Utilize RF design experience with various medical implantable frequencies for ultra-low power systems 
  • Utilize experience with highly optimized battery management circuits that provide dynamic control of voltage supplies for embedded controllers, memory, DMA, and other blocks that can operate at lower voltages only
  • Apply neuromodulation architecture experience, stimulation and sensing of neuro signals and optimal partitioning of (analog/digital) blocks for efficient battery use
  • Work closely with the VLSI Group Leader and interface to perform layout functions.  Report to the Director of IC Design and Development. 
  • Position requires up to 15% domestic travel and 5% international travel per year


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 5 – 10 years’ experience
  • 3 years of experience in low-power mixed signal design
  • 3 years of experience using Cadence tools like Analog Artist, AMS, Spectre/XPS, Spectre-RF and/or Assura/PVS simulation verification and extraction tools
  • 1 year of experience in Unix/Linux OS, Shell scripting, or tcl based tools
  • 1 year of experience in the use of Cadence SkillTM programming or C/C++ programming
  • 1 year of work experience or 1 year of Master’s level course/lab work in medical electronics design
