Our client has an immediate opening for a Strategic Buyer.  They are the world leader in Cabin Management and In-Flight entertainment systems for VIP aircraft.  This client is a highly vertically integrated company that produces virtually all of products in their plant. They serve a worldwide base of customers with state-of-the-art products.

Job Summary:

The Strategic Buyer acts as the key purchasing liaison for new product introduction for cutting edge electronics. Leads in the development of supply base for new products and interface with team on issues, opportunities or concerns as they arise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with Engineering and Product Management to identify and source materials for new product introductions (NPI)

• Identify suppliers for unique or emerging technologies to support future development

• Establish commercial contracting agreements to ensure availability, delivery and quality of NPI parts

• Identify and report any potential obsolescence or hard-to-procure issues

• Recommend alternate courses of action when appropriate related to suppliers, components or qualifications

• Stay actively engaged in product development teams and programs

• Evaluate and manage supplier performance on NPI buys and inform team of issues

• Work with Engineering, Product Management and Program Management to determine forecast for NPI parts

• Use personal knowledge, connections, experience in industry to solve problems and find opportunities

• Work with Engineering, Program Management and Sales to determine initial forecasts for new or long-lead components

• Manage subcontracts as requires

• Ensure customer requirements are flowed down to new suppliers

• Review new product preliminary BOMs to ensure we have all parts needed for prototypes


• Extensive experience in electronics component purchasing and contracting

• Experience in understanding and engaging in new product development programs

• Strong Customer Services (internal and external) experience

• Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of directly related experience

• Experience using MRP/ERP systems preferably Intuitive
