Job Description

Are you a supply chain professional with 10 or more years of vendor management experience?  Are you adept with global benchmarking?  Do you have project management experience?  If so, then you may be the candidate we are looking for!

We are seeking a Supply Chain professional with 10 or more years of experience to work with our client, a leading information and communication technology (ICT) company offering a full range of technology products, solutions, and services.  The successful candidate will work for 4 months in Foothill Ranch, CA from 8am to 5pm as the Supplier Manager overseeing a set of strategic suppliers and smaller vendors.  The selected candidate is accountable for all activities and results related to product purchase pricing, product cost reduction, contractual terms with those vendors, management of vendor relationships including vendor selection and vendor performance in line with our client’s sourcing requirements, and the vendor’s strategy.

Job Duties

  • Acting as a coach to the Buyers maintaining tactical vendor relationships.
  • Adhering to company policies, ISO requirements, 5S, safety, and quality workmanship
  • Analyzing market conditions in the nationally and internationally on material cost (benchmark) as well as product availability for commodities.
  • Approving and monitoring all commercial claims established by vendors against the company or that the company has put forward to any vendor(s).
  • Bid Support: Provide Special Bid Pricing for vendor considering a specific large customer rollout.
  • Buying/Expediting:  Act as the first point of escalation for the Buyers related to vendors.
  • Customarily and regularly exercising independent discretion and judgment
  • Developing and maintaining efficient reporting programs, assessing cost savings and vendor performance measures to fit with the company business plan.
  • Establishing a commercial framework through contracts for all relationships to ensure company competitive advantage while minimizing commercial risk by negotiating consistent terms and conditions with all key vendors.
  • Identifying supplier improvement and risk mitigation opportunities and manage these activities.
  • Leading the purchasing efforts of the company in the individually defined product arena
  • Maintaining Arena and ERP system and Vendor Performance
  • Meeting with suppliers to establish and maintain relationships, negotiate pricing and contracts.
  • Performing supplier assessments/audits to determine supplier capabilities.
  • Proactively developing and implementing strategic supplier relationships that deliver cost reduction, supply assurance, quality improvement and innovation.
  • Promoting professional standards of operations within the function utilizing the purchasing guidelines on business ethics and effectiveness.  
  • Supplier Management: Managing the strategic relationships at all levels within the company from the dedicated Account Executive and Product Manager to CFO and VP of Sales.
  • Supporting continual improvement efforts
  • Working directly with internal departments to facilitate material sourcing and planning.
  • Working with R&D team on new product introduction and product demise process as well as support of new regulatory requirements through the supply chain (ROHS requirements).

Required KSAOs

  • A Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University and 10 or more years of DIRECT experience in supplier relations/supply chain management (MANDATORY)
  • Ability to:

Desired KSAOs

  • APICS “Certified in Production and Inventory Management” (CPIM) and/or “Certified Supply Chain Professional” (CSCP) certifications are highly desired.
