Job Description

Volt is looking for a Supply Management Specialist III to work on-site with our customer in East Moline, IL on a 2-year assignment with possible year extension in a manufacturing and agriculture environment. This position has a focus on managing implementation of projects associated with our Continuous Improvement (CI) process and Value Improvement (VI) process. This role is integrated into our Concurrent Development Team (CDT) structure and is co-located with other functional representatives such as quality, product engineering, material flow, safety, and manufacturing. Key Responsibilities will include:

  • In this position you will develop, build and maintain an ongoing relationship with your CDT functional counterparts, OFP Supply Management team, and key suppliers in the management of SM deliverables associated with supplier performance, driving corrective actions, and meeting project deliverables/timelines.
  • Lead and/or support the negotiation of supply agreements with specific suppliers resulting in an implementation strategy and a documented agreement, ensuring the Company meets its overall goals for cost, quality, continuity of supply, etc.
  • Execute Order Fulfillment Process (OFP) with cost reduction activities, analyze quotations, and make supplier selection based on criteria such as quality, cost, process capability, lead time, and supplier stability.
  • Act as project lead in driving identification and implementation of Value Improvement (VI) cost projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement in terms of performance and lowest total cost with the supply base utilizing the Achieving Excellence process/criteria and other appropriate supply management tools.
  • Support the Engineering Change Management (ECM) process so design changes and product improvements are implemented in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Develop, implement and improve Supply Management processes to support the Enterprise Order Fulfillment Process and Enterprise Product Delivery Process.
  • Provide coaching as necessary to less experienced supply management personnel.
  • Develop and execute inventory plans to achieve inventory/asset management aligned with factory goals; resolve shipping, receiving, invoicing and payment problems to ensure prompt and accurate payments to suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Supply Management discipline or in a Business/Management discipline, or in an Accounting/Finance discipline or in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience with Supply Management processes and tools. (2-4 years).
  • Experience in specific areas of Supply Management such as: supplier integration, strategic supply management, supplier development, factory supply management, cost management, scheduling, forecasting, logistics, etc. (2-4 years)
  • Experience working with Structural Cost Reduction systems, processes, tools, and demonstrated experience implementing cost projects.
  • Experience working with Factory OFP SM SAP functions and Ag PDM part adoption processes.
  • Experience in managing projects to implementation within cross-functional team structure.
  • Experience with Order Fulfillment Process and Enterprise Product Delivery Process.
  • Experience in managing the supply base via interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution. (2-4 hours)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Experience in an Engineering discipline with process knowledge on part development activities.
  • Knowledge of component development / adoption process and supplier integration.
  • Experience in part design / validation processes.
  • Understanding of commodity manufacturing processes and design for manufacturing methodologies.
  • Work experience in a team environment.
  • PPE required
