Job Description

Volt Workforce solutions is seeking a Lead Radar Systems Architect. This position duties include conducting performance trades and analyses with an emphasis on mission space performance.  This includes a strong knowledge of radar hardware including the design of Electronically Steered Antennas and Digital Receiver Exciters.  Finally, the Lead Radar Systems Architect will define product line common product architectures and support design verification planning of the various radar designs 

Job Description 

  • The Radar Systems Architect will report to the Products Program Manager, will provide technical engineering leadership to the MFRFS engineering team, and is responsibility for the success and performance of end to end Electronically Steered Antenna and Digital Receiver Exciter design and development across multiple MFRFS products.
  • This role will partner with the MFRFS Chief Engineer to ensure flawless Engineering execution on existing and new development programs.   
  • The Radar Systems Architect is also responsible for the architecture of the MFRFS products including executing trade studies, system and RF performance analysis, and allocation of requirements from the System level, to subsystem level and down to component and module level.
  • This includes understanding digital signal processing and radar signal processing constraints, and how system level requirements are allocated to support processor, FPGA and other module level design decisions.
  • The Radar Systems Architect will also coordinate and lead integrated design reviews with team members from other disciplines such as HW (Electrical and Mechanical), SW Engineering and technical engagement with major component subcontractors to ensure product line commonality across different MFRFS products. 
  • The Radar Systems Architect is also responsible for supporting the capture of new business and understanding the technical roadmaps and product line roadmaps ensuring it is reflected in the program planning and execution. 
  • Participate in the Battle Field Radar and Tactical Radar Systems Engineering Leadership Teams through strong collaboration, accountability for process deployment, meeting program commitments, and overall financial performance of the organization including growth. 

Required Skills: 

  • Minimum 12 years of professional experience with 10 years of demonstrated Lead Radar Systems Architecture
  • Experience on Multi-Function RF programs
  • Subject Matter Expect in radar system architecture including optimization of antenna size, transmit power, tracker processing, electronically steered antennas, digital receiver design, surveillance and fire control concepts of operations.
  • Subject Matter Expert in RF performance analysis, system, to subsystem, to component level performance requirement allocation and trade study development
  • Technical expertise in the areas of analog to digital conversion and waveform signal processing including digital pulse compression and matched filtering using Fast Fourier Transforms Strong technical leadership skills working well with HW and SW design engineers
  • Broad technical background and experience in developing and manufacturing radar systems including the design of transmit receive integrated microcircuit modules and digital receiver/exciter circuit card assemblies.
  • Experience with mathematical simulation development (e.g. Matlab, Mathematica, or simulation programming skills).
  • Experience with Multi-Function RF System Software development for radar modes and waveform definition
  • Expertise in RF systems Requirements Development, Analysis, allocation and Management
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance. 
Discipline Education Level Earth, Atmospheric & Planetary Sciences    

Desired Skills: 

  • Ability to travel frequently to customer locations across the country
  • Experience with designing systems with Electronic Protection
  • Experience with networked system operations (systems of systems)
  • Experience working with the Department of Defense (DoD), and/or commercial and non-traditional customer sets (e.g. Combatant Commands, Homeland Security)
  • Doctorate Degree in Engineering 

Required Education:  

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, Science or related discipline. Master’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.

Security Clearance:
Applicants selected must have ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
