Job Description

Volt is looking for a Sr. Systems Engineer to work with our client in Sterling, VA. Our client is an industry leading Defense contractor who is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer for programs to modernize and maintain satellite ground segments.

As the System Engineer, your duties will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Perform system engineering analyses including trade studies, use case development, requirements definition and derivation, interface definition, and requirement validation and verification.
  • Provide technical direction and clarification of requirements to software development teams, and test personnel.
  • Support definition of operations concepts and procedure planning/ development, interfacing with personnel from other organizations.
  • Attend technical interchange meetings with the team members and other program personnel, and represent the organization in matters pertaining to the development of his/her project.
  • Provide status on assigned Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) tasks.
  • Provide document review and resolves technical systems engineering and integration issues.
  • Support ECP efforts as required.

Required Experience, Knowledge, and/or Skills:

  • 4+ years demonstrated system engineering experience with proven track record.
  • Current SCI/SSBI Security Clearance
  • Experience in at least one of the following system engineering areas: architecture development, operations concept development, requirements definition and derivation, functional analysis, interface definition, and verification & validation for large software systems
  • Enthusiastic & energetic performer able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, & high visibility environment

Desired Experience, Knowledge, and/or Skills:

  • Experience working in a Satellite Ground System development or operations environment
  • Experience with Satellite Mission Planning and Scheduling and/or Command and Control Operations
  • Experience with systems integration verification and validation (IV&V)

Required Education (including Major):

B.S./B.A. in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or science, and 4+ years relevant experience. 8 years relevant experience can be used in lieu of a degree.
