Job Description

Volt is currently seeking candidates with a US Government issued Security Clearance to support Navy Consolidated Afloat Networks Enterprise Systems (CANES) by interfacing with Active Duty personnel and US Government employees to provide sustainment and repair in Norfolk, VA.  Support will focus providing system life cycle systems engineering support for our customers at SPAWAR by performing all or some of the following essential job duties:

  • Provide onboard and remote fleet technical assistance, CASREP support, troubleshooting, repair, operational and maintenance assessment/inspection support, modernization/installation, installation and check-out, availability support and engineering technical services for ISNS systems including AN/USQ-153, COMPOSE 3.5, COMPOSE 4.0, AN/UYQ-96 Computer Network Defense (CND), AN/USQ-208 Consolidated Afloat Network and Enterprise Services (CANES), VMWARE 3.5/4.0, IBM Blade Centers, Crystal Servers, and Alcatel 7700/6850/9700 Switches
  • Conduct specified engineering/technical evaluations, perform equipment functional checks, perform troubleshooting/test/analysis, operation, maintenance, installation, diagnose connectivity faults, and equipment repair.
  • Provide Onboard Maintenance Training (OBMT) to Ship's Force technicians in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, assessment (including TSRA, C5RA, PIA, ICMP, INSURV, grooms), and logistics.
  • Report findings/discrepancies in TAAS-Info, Maintenance Action Forms (MAFs), written/electronic Technical Assistance Visit Report (TAVR) or de-brief at completion of shipboard tasks
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

Required Experience & Aptitudes:

  • U.S. Navy rating “A” school and applicable system “C” school and NECs for ISNS/CANES systems/equipment or equivalent formal classroom training or on-the-job training
  • Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience gained with the last 8 years in the troubleshooting, assessment and repair of the following systems:

AN/USQ-153, COMPOSE 3.5, COMPOSE 4.0, AN/UYQ-96 Computer Network Defense (CND), and AN/USQ-208 Consolidated Afloat Network and Enterprise Services (CANES).

  • Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, fault isolation, repair installation, and testing of combat or C4I systems and equipment.
  • A minimum of three (3) years full time hands-on technician experience in operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, repair, and/or modification of shipboard Combat, ASW, USW, MIW, or C4I systems.
  • Must be able to operate required electronic support and test equipment.
  • Capable of using and reading technical operation and maintenance documentation and manuals, blueprints, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and data tables.
  • Ability to utilize computers, and a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc., to compile information for reports and programmatic files, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.  Be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must have an active Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.

Preferred Experience & Aptitudes:

  • Bachelor or Associates of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Electronics, Electronics Technology, or other related technical field is a plus.
  • Experience in the troubleshooting, repair, and assessment on the following systems/equipment is a plus (experience may be concurrent):
  • VMWARE 3.5/4.0, IBM Blade Centers, Crystal Servers, and Alcatel 7700/6850/9700 Switches
  • Experience gained at Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC), Norfolk Ship Support Activity (NSSA), or another Regional Maintenance Center (RMC), or a  Mobile Training Unit ( MOTU),In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA), Alteration Installation Team (AIT), or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in the design/development, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, or testing of INSN, CANES, or Shipboard Network System related systems/equipment is a plus.
