Job Description

Volt has an opening for a Training Development Specialist to support our Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) customer by contributing to the planning, design, and developing training to support the implementation of air traffic systems and capabilities for our client in Washington DC.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to contribute to the planning, design, development and deployment of training for an air traffic management system.
  • Managing a Training Development Panel comprised of Air Traffic SMEs (including FAA, labor and contractor support), Prime Contractor (system developer) engineers, and Program Management Organization (PMO) leadership. Facilitation and schedule management must be conducted per established processes and procedures.
  • Ability to use established instructional theories to design and develop content for instructor-led courses with a potential for interactive multimedia instruction. Initial responsibilities include conducting a detailed job task analysis and establishing clearly defined performance objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Ability to work with instructional designers and subject matter experts to design and develop training scenarios, example datasets, relevant formative and summative assessments, and practical application scenarios. Specific learning products may include learning content outlines, instructor guides, student outlines, and test banks. Additionally, you will perform testing and validation of computer systems, applications, and servers in conjunction with developing learning content when applicable.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, assist in assessing complex problems and investigate, develop, appraise, select, and present solutions. You will consult extensively with customer representatives and employees and will provide expertise in the development and improvement of training development processes, and the development, calibration, and utilization of training systems.
  • Travel may be required.

Required Qualifications:

  • A BA/BS in a technical field, including but not limited to: engineering, math, instructional system design, computer science, decision science, management/computer information systems, or aviation/information technology.
    • A BS in an engineering discipline, to include but not limited to: system, aviation, aeronautical, aerospace, electrical, mechanical, environmental, computer (to include computer science). human factors, industrial, operations research, physics, etc. is required.
    • A Masters’ degree in any field (e.g MS, MA, MBA) counts for three years of experience,
    • A PhD counts for three years of experience. An additional five years of experience may be substituted for the degree stated.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience including experience designing and developing training for adult learners.
  • Prior experience in successfully applying FAA Safety and Technical Training (AJI) requirements for FAA training development.
  • Must be able to write and edit technical documents with little to no supervision.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with customers and colleagues with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Must have experience using Microsoft Office tool suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project and Visio) tools.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation for a position of Public Trust.
