Job Title: Technical Writer (Level 1)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland

Job Description

Volt is looking to hire Technical Writer for our client based in Baltimore, Maryland. Technical Writer who has experience in explaining highly technical data and information supporting information security for a Center of Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) program.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of technical documents including Handbooks, system instructions, security policies, Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) and additional documents as required
  • Reviewing and updating security policies to ensure written policies correctly reflect CMS security policy updates
  • Maintaining on a quarterly basis Plans of Action & Milestone (POA&M) Directive Handbook
  • Using installed Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint and other tools for documentation
  • Providing technical writing support for documents such as configuration instructions, specifications, hardware and software requirements, implementation plans, version description, interface
  • requirements/guide, administrative support guide, troubleshooting guides, user/analyst guide and physical and logical layer diagrams as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or 2-year technical school or computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required, or equivalent (4 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education)
  • Experience researching highly technical subject matter, organize information from multiples sources, and expressing technical information in written formats
  • Experience applying concepts for technical writing based on engineering drawings, technical
  • information from engineering documentation
  • Experience producing technical documentation, user manuals, training manuals, and other documentation utilized by the end-user community
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Project and Visio

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience working and interacting with technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work with precision and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet established deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
