Job Description

Technical Writer

This is an estimated 3 month temporary position with the possibility of converting to a direct hire, in Seattle, WA and is offered through Volt Workforce Solutions. We are among the largest staffing companies in the US for contingent/temporary and direct hire placements, and support many of the top rated Pacific Northwest companies.

We are looking for a writer who can design, create, and manage content for a set of new products for Certified Public Accountants (CPAs). In this role, you'll develop an original content plan for a beta software product. You'll work with product teams and customers to become a subject matter expert, and to build an initial set of content that's effective and easy to update. This position is temporary, but it could turn into a permanent position in 2020.

Responsibilities:

Create web content and in-product assistance for our customers on a temporary basis as part of the Customer Learning team. Your content is published in our products and on the help center.

  • Work with product-groups and subject matter experts to understand your feature area and write great documentation
  • Get to know your customers so you create the content they need, and then use data to make it better
  • Create a content strategy for each phase of the customer lifecycle
  • Investigate and prioritize updates to existing content
  • Track and communicate project status, and deliver what you promise
  • Constantly seek and respond to stakeholder and customer feedback

Requirements:

Be prepared to share samples demonstrating the qualifications below as part of the interview process.

  • 3+ years creating assistance content for external customers (samples required; please be prepared to submit them on request)
  • 3+ years developing software-product user guides in an online environment
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze customer needs and develop a writing plan to meet those needs
  • Experience using authoring tools to create and publish content on the web
  • Experience collaborating with software development teams and turning product information into customer-facing content
  • Ability to use all the standard software tolls and, more importantly, the ability to learn new ones
  • Experience with taxes is a benefit, and may replace some writing experience. Samples that demonstrate strong writing skills are essential
