Job Description

Volt is looking for an Technical Writer to work on-site with our customer located in Chicago, IL in a contingent position forecasted for 1 year. Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.
  • Research and build knowledge about products, services, technology, and concepts to be documented.
  • Work closely with Product teams, engineering teams, support teams, deployment teams, and other stakeholders to create and maintain high-quality documentation for upcoming releases that helps our end users understand, and effectively use our applications and APIs.
  • Write easy-to-understand online help such as admin guides, user guides, knowledgebase articles, and getting started guides.
  • Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities
  • Review documents to maintain continuity of style of content while managing updates and revisions to technical literature.
  • Maintain a comprehensive library of technical documentation while remaining up-to-date on product developments as well as universal specifications relevant to the industry.
  • Effectively manage documentation projects and deliver end user-focused documentation.
  • Keep up to date on changes of our offerings, customer use cases, and support issues.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Communications, or related technology focused field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in Technical Communications or similar field.
  • Experience writing clear and concise procedural documentation for a technical audience.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and comfortable with rapid iteration and fast delivery.
  • Familiarity with version control systems; experience and comfort with Git is a plus.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working with minimal daily direction.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask and prioritize.
  • Ability to collaborate in a global team environment, actively engage subject matter experts, and follow through on commitments.
  • Great interpersonal skills, proactive approach, and a positive attitude.

This position is subject to US Export Controls. Must be a US Citizen or lawful permanent resident.
