Job Description

VOLT is seeking all level experienced technicians for several different roles in Roseville!!

Technician level I, II, III

• Troubleshooting, repairing and testing of systems, products and modules to component level.

• Handles "catch boards" to include proper routing, diagnostics and report in the time frame allotted for the procedure.

• Diagnoses malfunctioning circuits, components or parts and determines methods or actions necessary to rectify.

• Provides design details where lacking and recommends modifications to engineering design as necessary.

• Assists in the development of repair processes and procedures.

• Provides technical support to others as needed.

• Ability to read and understand schematics, test parameters, material lists, net lists and IRQ's.

• Some rework thru-hole, surface mount, fine pitch soldering as required.

• Training of TRO's in basic troubleshooting skills.

• Discusses layout and assembly procedures and problems with Electronics Engineer and draws sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units.

• Analyzes and interprets test data.

• Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance.

• Writes technical reports and develops charts, graphs, and schematics to describe and illustrate system's operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations.

• Checks functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.

• Interpret mechanical assembly and fabrication drawings for use in parts, and diagnosis of root cause for failure.

• Need familiarity with optical properties and the effects of lenses and mirrors on light beams and images.

Rework Technician

• Performs routine testing, checkout, troubleshooting and repairing defective boards.

• Perform visual inspection of PCB's for IPC-A-610 workmanship requirements.

• Soldering / de-soldering using SMT tooling and advanced hand soldering methods to IPC-7711/7722 standard.

• Advanced rework of surface mount and fine pitch components.

• Automated production testing.

• Operate test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes (analog and digital), radio frequency power meters, analog and digital multi-meters, spectrum analyzers) to test and repair electronic equipment.

• Provides technical and work leadership to lower level operators; conducts informal training.

• Assembles experimental circuitry (breadboard) or complete prototype model.

• Analyzes and interprets test data.

• Recognizes failures and set-up problems; determines need for appropriate verification.

• Performs repetitive set-up of production test equipment following simple test procedures.

• Conducts repetitive tests using test fixtures and apparatus.

• Maintains inspection logs and records to denote malfunctions.

• BGA rework.

• SMT machine set-up and reloading of components (Feeder, Tray, and Tube Loading).

• Responsible for SMT Line machine set-up and verification of components.

Optical Mechanical Technician

• Able to interpret mechanical assembly and fabrication drawings for use in parts, and diagnosis of root cause for failure.

• Able to use calipers, gauge blocks, Federal gauge, micrometer usage

• May use hand operated tools and light power operated tools in the assembly and disassembly of intermediate to complex mechanical/optical apparatus such as cameras, lasers and microscopes, etc.

• Interpret mechanical assembly and fabrication drawings for use in parts, and diagnosis of root cause for failure.

• Need familiarity with optical properties and the effects of lenses and mirrors on light beams and images.

• Able to self-supervise and organize each day’s work priorities.

• Must be goal oriented and driven to meet and exceed expectations.
