Job Description

This is a Validation Engineering role with responsibility to define and execute validation tests, clearly document defects, work with Development teams to run diagnostics / troubleshooting tests, and support various product development activities.  Validation and development activities will require domestic and international travel (approximately 25%) to perform testing at both the client’s sites and their customers’ sites.

As the System Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for executing software and hardware validation tests onboard technologically advanced mining equipment.  You will become a key member of the development team and gain knowledge of technologies such as drilling location and guidance, Operator Assisted operation, semi-autonomous operation, line of sight remote controls, non-line of sight remote operator stations, Object detection, personnel detection, and site / terrain awareness.

The successful candidate will also support live customer demonstrations, which will require strong communications skills and the ability to confidently demonstrate expertise on the technologies and equipment providing a positive customer experience.

Required Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience performing testing and validation throughout all phases of product development
  • 4-year accredited degree in mechanical, electrical, or computer engineering
  • Experiencing testing systems comprising hardware and software devices in a distributed environment of on-machine and off machine components by identifying issues and non-conforming test results
  • Experience using server-based software to interface with remotely located systems for the purpose of data collection or remote motion control
  • Interfacing with engineering staff, customers, and all levels of management to communicate identified issues, opportunities for improvement, and overall test validation results
  • 1-2 years’ experience with devices and systems using ethernet and Wi-Fi communications (server client configurations) with basic understanding of network and device configurations
  • Able to travel globally to support various customer and client test sites with minimal notice
  • Demonstrated track record of safety
  • Ability to work independently and recognize when it is necessary to escalate issues to development team or validation team leadership

Preferred Experience:

  • 4-year accredited degree in mechanical, electrical, or computer engineering
  • Experience with mining equipment or mining operations
  • Knowledge of line of sight remote control systems for construction or mining equipment
  • Experience using HIL test equipment (dSpace or NI)
  • Previous experience troubleshooting embedded control systems in automotive, construction, or mining applications
  • Experience working with devices on cellular LTE networks
