Test Engineer 2

This manufacturing company located in Kirkland, WA which is a privately held company founded in 1984 and provides end to end electronic manufacturing services including Design, Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA), complete Box Builds, final System Integration and Test is seeking a Test Engineer 2 for a 6-8 month contract role. The Test Engineer is responsible for implementing test processes either supplied by customers or designed from their specifications, ensuring the set ups are kept current as specifications and/or product revisions change, training staff on the test process, interfacing with customers as required, and traveling occasionally. Support safety goals with test procedures and company policies. Support safety procedures with implementation of tests. Support safety training with all test procedure methods. Ensure the test set-ups and test instructions are ready for use and at proper revisions. Design, construct and document test set-ups to customers’ specifications as required.

Communicate with customers concerning test or other technical issues. Issue informal & formal reports that are either technical or task oriented. Improve accuracy and through-put of tests by monitoring test fallout and correcting tests which result in false failures or escapes. Train test operators in the proper use of test equipment and test fixtures. Participate on Quality oriented teams. Cross train to gain proficiency in other tasks as assigned. Drives continuous improvement and supports all aspects of test requirements for assigned Customer(s). Is the main point of Customer contact for test issues related to an assigned Customer(s). Tracks and reports key test metrics relevant to the assigned Customer(s). Improve existing processes, testing and otherwise, using Lean Six Sigma methodologies such as design of experiments. Documents the results of analyses and experiments in a formal technical report. Completes other projects and initiatives as assigned by the Mgr. of Manufacturing Test Technology. Support audits to ensure Testing Process Documentation contain critical test points. Ensure the escalation of all test issues until resolved. Support problem solving training (Plan-Do-Check-Act). Perform GR&R and other Measurement System Validation activities and write related reports.

Ensure the highest standard of test coverage with the accountability and responsibility for maintaining the quality of the test throughout the history of the product. Support one-piece flow. Support Lean (jidoka, 5-S, standard work, poka yoke, visual controls, etc). Lead the identification and removal of re-test out of the process (eliminate redundancy). Support new product introduction, and production trials for identification and resolution of quality issues. Staying up to date of new technology in their area of concentration. Support cost reduction targets (cost of poor quality). Support and communicate dept test policies that relate to team. Support the collection and submittal of test improvement ideas from team. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess a BSEE or BSET degree. Over 5 years Test/Design Engineering experience in either digital hardware or linear/RF electronic with a strong digital background. Six Sigma training preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience. Manufacturing environment experience required. Automation Experience preferred

Must possess a strong working knowledge in MS Office Suite (Advanced Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc). Strong customer service focus. Ability to read and interpret schematics. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills (including the ability to write reports, business correspondence, policies and procedure manuals – if applicable).

Strong teaming skills. Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. Be flexible, adaptable, able and willing to modify activities and direction with an ever-changing business environment. Strong interpersonal skills and work ethic. Possess a professional attitude and promote the same in others.
