Job Description

Position Purpose:                Performs standard testing processes on all products using a variety of equipment and records, compiles and analyzes results. Contributes to creating high quality products offered to customers by driving accurate and timely testing of products.  Mentors lower level technicians and acts as the subject matter expert for testing in this group.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:

  1. Conducts product reliability tests on all products to ensure that only the highest quality products are available to customers.  Accurately records results and performs preliminary analyses from the data. Prioritizes product test requests and evaluates the testing results prior to distribution.
  2. Performs a variety of non-routine and non-repetitive mechanical and/or test operations using electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies.
  3. Creates new test methods and sequences of operation when testing information is incomplete.
  4. Creates and conducts Test Methods [HTMs] for existing product, new product, and competitor product evaluation. Meets with Product Reliability Engineers as well as Design, Sustaining, and Manufacturing Engineering to gain advice and feedback.
  5. Conducts Failure Mode and Root Cause Failure Analysis on Finished Products and communicates results to the respective Engineering discipline.
  6. Monitors and maintains all test facility equipment.
  7. Offers mechanical and technical support to Test Technicians levels I and II to ensure accuracy of results.  Mentors and assists in training of lower level jobs.
  8. Implements established testing procedures for R&D products. Tracks product through all phases of testing until product is approved for production.
  9. Assists in the design and implements of new testing procedures and equipment for all company products.
  10. Coordinates with Sales and Product Management to source sites to install company's products in various geographical regions for the purpose of Beta Field tests. Travels to test sites, conducts installation, and trains users on installation and operating procedures.

Education/Training Required:

Requires an associate’s degree or equivalent technical or industry experience.

Experience Required:

Five years of experience in the field or related area

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:

  • Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently is required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
  • Regularly lift, push, pull and/or move up to 52 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors and fumes or airborne particles.
  • Frequently exposed to vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, and risk of static electrical shock.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and may require PPE.
