Job Description

Summary:  Operate one or more thermoformed lines while producing quality products; meeting production goals; maintaining employee, equipment, and product safety; and providing consistent 3-month average run efficiency of 97% or greater.   Work in a team environment; support Packers and other employees to meet team production goals, including quality and product safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  1. Ensure thermoforming process is stable and runs in-spec product at standard speed; usually on one assigned line, but be able to do so on two assigned lines
  2. Use instruments and tools to verify quality specifications are being met.
  3. Accurately complete daily production and activity documentation.
  4. Clean, organize, and inspect tooling, machine, and work area no less often than each roll change. Ensure tooling, machine, and work area remain clean, organized, and capable of safe effective production.
  5. Operate machine and make standard process adjustments to ensure product quality and process stability. Notify Supervisor of the need for more complex machine adjustments.
  6. Understand quality specifications, properly interpret them, and respond appropriately to ensure quality specifications are being met.
  7. Notify Supervisor of needed machine and tooling repairs and modifications. Proper documentation must be accurately completed.
  8. Effectively communicate with other employee, sharing information to ensure team is working towards and meeting production goals.
  9. Assemble boxes and place empty boxes on a table or conveyor for Packers.
  10. Verify boxes (cases) packed by Packers have been properly packed before sealing cases.
  11. Seal and stack verified cases onto pallets. Stack height is usually 30 to 84 inches.
  12. Accurately apply product labels to match the product in the cases.
  13. Perform Packer duties as needed.
  14. Perform specialized tool adjustments, including penning, and trim tool penetration. (Employee must be on the appropriate qualified list to perform specialized tool adjustments.)
  15. Accurately complete daily production and activity documentation.
  16. Perform can and insert setups, and assist with full, and other type, setups.
  17. Can provide at least four possible solutions to each of the following industry-common product defects.
    1. Web
    2. Hole
    3. Off-trim
    4. Thin spots
    5. Thin wall
    6. Thin bottom/top
    7. Thick spots
    8. Flow line
    9. Rough or poor trim
    10. Plug or assist marks
    11. Non-plug/assist marks
    12. Poor form
    13. Poor mating part fit and retention
    14. Poor compression test results
    15. Contamination
    16. Angel hair
    17. Silicone stains
    18. Sealing surface defects
    19. Poor optical characteristics
    20. Dent
    21. Product falling out of trim press
    22. Sheet falling out of rails
    23. Shot sticking to mold
    24. Warped product

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.  Work experience may be substituted for diploma.  Experience with thermoformers or mechanical inclined.  Experience that suggest inclination:  Auto mechanic, printing operator, machine shop training.
