Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions is Recruiting candidates for an exciting long-term opportunity with a well-established, high tech organization in Orlando, FL. This organization is global leader in the electronics industry serving commercial and military companies with decades of successful technology innovations.

The Tooling Designer will be working within the limits of established policies, perform duties to draw assembly, raw material, fixture and tool drawings using computer aided drafting and Solidworks. Contribute to the design and fabrication of various fixtures and tooling and new products using 3D printing and Solidworks. Track design packages

through engineering changes and approval processes, and maintain related electronic files and history, updating web to reflect the latest document revision.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop Mount and Bond, Build Print, tool and fixture drawings.
  • Communicate with engineers, review documents provided and determine requirements.
  • Ensure that drawings represent specifications and comply with established engineering and Military standards.
  • Contribute to the development of new industry products, tooling or custom packaging.
  • Create sketches and drawings for evaluation and work with vendors to provide or obtain required project related information.
  • Prepare product drawings for use in production and compare costs and availability of package elements with vendors.
  • Learn related assembly design rules for various die attach, wire bond, and lid seal methods to help select raw materials for Lot Acceptance Test (LAT) jobs.
  • Work with engineers to determine tooling requirements, recommend materials and design elements, and create drawings to be used in the building of tooling to support production operations.
  • Determine number of views required and clarify details for machine shop as required to communicate our needs.
  • Update drawings as required for inclusion of most recent engineering change notifications.
  • Ensure that all drawings conform to established requirements.
  • Submit completed drawings for approval, make required adjustments, and track through approval process.
  • Establish and maintain soft copy of electronic files for drawing packages and file documents in accordance with established systems and processes.

  • Associates Degree in Mechanical, Technical or Electronic Engineering.
  • 2 or more years of experience.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Solidworks proficiency
  • Team player who can multi-task effectively in a fast-paced, lean environment while maintaining quality standards.
  • High-energy, results-focused self-starter.
  • Strong analytical ability and decision-making.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills.
  • Effective communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Ability to exercise flexibility with quickly changing data requests.
