Job Title: User Support Specialist

Location: Ashland, VA

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

The End User Support Specialist is responsible for responding to and resolving end-user IT service requests and fill in for Computer Operations when needed. The scope of supported end-user equipment includes but is not limited to PCs, Macs, thin clients, laser printers, label printers, vehicle mount terminals and RF guns, and scanners.  Requests for service are typically received in the form of an electronic ticket generated by Data Center Operations via a user call to the corporate IT Help Desk line.  This position requires that the individual be proficient on a wide variety of end user technologies and associated operating systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to, resolve and close end-user IT service requests based on published procedures and policies.   
  • Prepare, test, deploy and support Intel based desktop and laptop computers.
  • Install, configure and test approved licensed software applications.
  • Install, test and support computer peripherals such as laser printers and the device drivers required to access and operate the same.
  • Configure, test, deploy and support warehouse based end-user technology (e.g., RF guns, mobile terminals, thin client stations, tethered and Bluetooth scanners, label printers. etc.)
  • Perform IT end-user equipment moves.
  • Tag all end-user IT assets, active and stored, and maintain inventory documentation.
  • Maintain warehouse based IT storage area (The Cage) clean and organized at all times. 
  • Support remote users using VPN to access corporate network (such as Regional Directors, District Managers, etc.)
  • Support Enterprise smartphone users by create profiles, reset activation codes, etc.
  • Restore data utilizing NetBackup Enterprise system.
  • Manage WaveLink Avalanche application (Mobile devices management tool).
  • Manage remote devices security software ensuring security policies are enforced.
  • Manage remote devices disk encryption and firewall protection.
  • Back-up to IT Analyst as General Application Security Administrator for Knighted WMS, Lightning Pick, and Fornta WCSPlus applications.
