Job Description

Under minimal supervision, repairs, installs, maintains and troubleshoots mechanical and electrical systems used in R&D, Office and warehouse environment. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on a regular basis on HVAC and electrical systems. Provides oversight for key E&S programs as assigned.


  • Performs facilities maintenance and repairs related to operation of various building facilities, equipment, HVAC and electrical systems.
  • Performs electrical maintenance work such as disconnecting, replacing and rerouting electrical systems, as well as wall switches and plug receptacles.
  • Identifies, diagnoses, and corrects facility operating system problems.
  • Interprets drawings and blueprints for structural mechanical, electrical and general facilities operating systems.
  • Utilizes a Computerized Maintenance Management System (C.M.M.S.) to report and record equipment-related actions.
  • Prioritizes work requests and orders according to facility needs.
  • Determines necessary equipment and materials, and purchases such items using the purchasing order program.
  • Responsible for overseeing maintenance/facilities work conducted by external vendors.
  • Assesses the customer’s immediate needs and ensures customer’s receipt of needed services through personal service or making appropriate referral.
  • Provides prompt, efficient and responsive service.
  • Exercises appropriate judgment in answering questions and releasing information; analyzes and projects consequences of decisions and/or recommendations.
  • Communicates effectively with a variety of individuals representing diverse cultures and backgrounds and function calmly in stressful situations, which require a high degree of sensitivity, tact and diplomacy.
  • Takes necessary actions to ensure equipment and/or environment is safe according to Company, local, state and federal codes, regulations and governing policies.
  • Works independently or as a team member as directed by Senior Facilities/Maintenance Manager.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Knowledgeable in rebuilding pneumatic and hydraulic systems and related components.
  • Knowledgeable in understanding of electrical prints, symbols and safe testing methods of medium voltage systems.
  • Knowledgeable in the principles of automated building control systems.
  • Knowledgeable of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of parts and materials used in preventive maintenance and repair or replacement of mechanical and electrical building operating systems.
  • Skilled with the use of power tools, shop equipment such as drill presses, sand blasters etc. Knowledge of welding and machining practices a plus.
  • Ability to troubleshoot from mechanical drawings/prints such as hydraulics prints/diagrams and/or O.E.M documentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical/electrical malfunctions with limited documentation.
  • Ability to interact with other associates on the manufacturing floor in a professional manner.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and document equipment records.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel a plus.
  • Demonstrates ability to implement safety training requirements.


  • Minimum 5 years combined experience/education working with mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, Central Plant and electrical systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems.
  • High School Diploma required
  • Vocation Training Certificate in related field highly desired.
  • Ability to successfully complete a Train-the-Trainer lift truck operator class specified by the company.
  • Ability to successfully complete an OSHA 30 hour general industry safety class.
