Job description:

Our client is a rapidly growing startup and you’ll be part of our fast-moving and growing product team responsible for designing and planning our platform. Here are some of the things you’ll be doing day-to-day:

  • Having an outsized impact on the UX direction of the platform.
  • Design new features and working directly with the head of product, product managers, and software engineers.
  • Work to know the domain and iteratively translate that into information architecture, user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that lead to an intuitive user experience.
  • Conduct user research, interviews, and surveys.
  • Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.
  • Make strategic design and user experience decisions related to core and new functionality.
  • Work collaboratively with the engineering team as well as other teams, but sometimes independently, on new features and improvements.

Required Skills

  • Two or more years’ experience in UX design. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience designing enterprise web-based applications.
  • Expertise in standard UX software such as Sketch, OmniGraffle, Axure, InVision, UXPin, Balsamiq, Framer, and the like is a must. Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus.
  • Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
  • A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions.

What we’re looking for:

You’re passionate about the intersection of software engineering and design. Desire to work on a world-class Software-as-a-Service platform and have an outsized impact on the the platforms UX.

  • You love creating exceptional UX clarity. You’re passionate about creating well thought out and designed software. You understand the importance of UI consistency and know that the first prototype often doesn’t end up being the final design.
  • You’ve got the experience we need. Optimally you have 2 or more years of experience designing web-based applications. Most of all you understand how modern web applications should work from a user perspective.
  • You care how software is used. You have a user-centric world view in your designs. You care how users interact with what you’ve created and are only satisfied when they are. SaaS familiarity is nice.
  • You’re a self-starter and a critical thinker. You’re capable of taking on technical challenges big and small. Sometimes you’ll be working solo on a project, as such; you can work with minimal guidance and seek the best solution.

This position is full-time and based in downtown in Spokane, Washington. We offer competitive salaries and benefits, an unlimited vacation policy, a high-energy environment, and lots of room for personal and professional growth.
