Job Description

Volt seeks a User Experience (UX) Specialist for our Client’s Health Informatics and Infrastructure Solutions group is seeking a UX to support an exciting project at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI). The position will be located in Bethesda, Maryland. The successful candidate will work in an agile and fast paced environment supporting NIH scientists, researchers and IT professionals whose mission is to solve unique and challenging problems. This role will have an excellent opportunity to interact with Project Managers, Developers, Business Representatives, and Subject Matter Experts. Individual must be a motivated, self-driven team player who interacts well with others, and is a good communicator. Applicants will qualify for this position with a Bachelor’s Degree and two or more years’ experience in a project execution environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of recent experience in a project execution environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work as a member of the Enterprise User Interface User Experience (UI/UX) workgroup to improve look and feel of NHLBI applications
  • Develop Enterprise UI/UX standards and document them
  • Work closely with the UI Developer to ensure that his work is of high quality. This involves formal testing of UX components before they are released to application developers for use

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • A solid understanding of Usability and User Testing
  • Ability to design and execute test cases to validate standard UI components and patterns • Must have excellent technical writing skills
  • Must be able to capture detailed and accurate meeting minutes
  • Must have strong capabilities with Microsoft Office products, specifically with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must have outstanding communication and persuasive skills
  • Must be able to influence others to adopt UI/UX standards
  • Must have a commitment to delivering high-quality artifacts
  • Must be comfortable in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Must be familiar with 508 standards, UI/UX testing approaches and application usage analytics

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Prior experience working on Federal Grants Management Systems
  • Experience working directly with the Business and Subject Matter Experts Requires the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
