Job Description

Volt has an opportunity for a welder for a company that manufactures large tank equipment used in the wine making industry! This position offers full benefits upon hire and a flexible starting wage depending on experience!! 

Position Summary: Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Working individually will inspect welding work to ensure completeness of work and code compliance.

Duties/Responsibilities of Position:

  • Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding technique
  • Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process
  • Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness
  • Inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, and performs welds, and maintains welding equipment
  • Maintain inventory, tools, supplies and work area in an organized manner
  • May be required to perform troubleshooting and repairs at customer’s site
  • Operate both plasma and flame cutting torch
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Specific Competencies/Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of codes and industry standards applicable to work performed
  • Good at establishing clear directions and lays out work in a well-planned and organized manner. Monitors process, progress and results.
  • Be able to read and understand floor plans and work orders for projects
  • Ability to complete material and labor take offs from blue prints required.
  • Ability to use both manual and power tools
  • Ability to use mathematics to calculate length, width, depth, etc. as it relates to construction and accuracy of specs and requirements
  • Ability to follow written and spoken instruction
  • Ability to safely perform tasks

Experience/Education Required/Desired:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience performing welding 
  • Able to read Company’s construction documents (provided in English) and provide guidance to construction team to complete necessary work
  • Knowledge of LEAN construction a plus

Special Considerations:

  • Able to lift up to 45 pounds
  • Able to carry, bend, stoop, turn, kneel, crawl, climb a ladder and other manual labor activities
