Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works from blueprints, drawings and verbal instructions to perform welding operations. 
  • Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process
  • Plans and lays out work, developing fixtures as required. 
  • Uses a variety of welding processes such as Heli arc welding to join metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, steel, copper and brass. 
  • Performs layout operations, develops fixtures for one-of-a-kind units, and may select optimum welding process. 
  • Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness
  • Utilizes a variety of standard shop hand tools, measuring devices and equipment. 
  • May provide work leadership to others
  • Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques.
  • Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
  • Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, fabrication and welding operations
  • Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ yrs. of work-related experience
  • Experience in MIG and TIG welding, required.
  • Basic understanding of work orders, SOP, & drawings.
  • Ability to read blueprints and know welding symbols is required.
  • Experience using basic hand and grinder tools required.
  • Experience welding with most metals.
  • Must have a good understanding of the English language, required.
  • Certification in MIG and TIG a plus.
