Job Description

VOLT is seeking a Windows 10 Migration Technician with experience supporting a Windows 10 migration. You will be responsible for migrating desktops and laptops to Windows 10. This will be a very hand on position and candidates must be willing to crawl under desks while being professional. The candidate will interact with customers on a daily basis and must have sharp organizational and communication skills in order to schedule customer visits and meet the target time given to complete tasks. This candidate must be able to work independently as well as working closely with a team.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Complete and troubleshoot Data Migration from old pc to new pc.
  • Test and clean PCs, laptops and other related hardware as needed.
  • Maintain, analyze, and troubleshoot software and computer peripherals as needed during the upgrade.
  • Set up, configure and add all required hardware during upgrade.
  • Restore all user and configuration data from user’s backup.
  • Provide resolution of end user’s technical issues post migration.
  • Provide technical support to end users via telephone or deskside after migration as needed.
  • Assure that all tickets requiring follow up work and/or calls are resolved to closure within target..
  • Assist in researching and documenting improvements to processes upon discovery.
  • Assist coworkers in resolution of end users’ technical issues post migration.
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)
  • IT Field Services Support: 1 year (Required) 
  • Previous Windows 10 upgrade project experience required (at least 2 years)
  • Experience with standard technical support concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated to meet deadlines
  • Will need to pass the nuclear plant screening requirements which include an in depth background check psychological test, and will call references

LOCATION:

  • Nuclear Plant- will be day time positions to start but may end up shifting to the later shift from 2pm to 1am based on PC availability

TRAVEL:

  • Little travel assuming they will be living near the plant.
  • If needed, travel expenses are reimbursed but the candidate must possess enough credit to pay for all expenses until reimbursement (usually within 2 weeks of expense report submittal)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee is required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, use tools to install computer or communications technology.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee will be required, to be physically present at work during any hour of the day, any day of the week to perform upgrade
